Karen Percy-Lowe carries the Olympic torch through the streets of downtown Banff
We left Calgary just after 4:30pm from the McDonalds by Calgary Olympic Park and drove to the town of Banff. The torch was suppose to start making its way down the streets of Banff starting at 6:15pm and to be presented at the end of main street in the park at 7:00pm.
Overall, it was pretty cool - at the stage where the were going to light the cauldron the four Canadian Tenors sang a few songs including a nice rendition of Oh Canada.. Karen Percy-Lowe carried the torch from main street to the stage where she lit the cauldron.
Here are a few featured photos from our four hour trip out there.
Conor with his Olympic flag.
Conor at the barrier, waiting for the torch to arrive.
After the ceremony, Clare posing with one of the shorter torch bearers.
The rest of the pics can be found here. I've updated captions with some comments, so be sure to check it out.
I shot either the 24-70 f2.8 or the 70-200 f2.8.. all at iso3200 to compensate for the darkness.. Sometimes I had my flash mounted on the camera, pointing up - minus one notch, with a 8" snoot open to the front, sending the light forward to send a softer light than just straight flash..
Thanks for looking.
